Contempt of heritage sites is a mistake and a crime against homeland

His Royal Highness Prince Sultan bin Salman bin Abdul Aziz, President of SCTA, the Head of the Higher Steering Committee of the First International Conference for Urban Heritage in the Islamic Countries, disclosed that, the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia by hosting this conference in its first version has launched the prime initiative for international attention on the Islamic urban heritage.

In a press statement to Saudi News Agency the HRH said, “The conference aims to silence voices that were used to disrespect urban heritage.” HRH added, “Contempt of heritage sites is a mistake and a crime against homeland and citizen. Rather, our duty is to care for them in order to make them a source of pride.”

HRH in his statement, following the opening of the exhibition of artisans and the accompanied events of the 1st Urban Heritage Conference, he said, the conference is sending many messages to Saudi citizen, and many other messages to world countries that the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia is rich in its heritage and antiquities, which reflect its civilization and identity. HRH added that, Saudi citizen had the full right to know about his heritage in order to be respected and cared of by him.

“The conference has a host of messages. The most important message for Saudi citizen is: “Our homeland is rich in large amount of antiquities indicating to our great civilization and heritage besides the citizen has the right to knowledge of this heritage.  We hope this heritage to become an important economic source that we are proud of” said HRH.
